Saturday Scrimmage Report: Defense

GOAZCATS.com Arizona completed its first scrimmage of Fall Camp and the defense had fans throughout Arizona stadium raving.
First things first, Arizona's defensive line, which has long been a weakness, will almost definitely be a strength this upcoming season. Yaniv Barnett had a great day filling holes and making life tough for Arizona's running backs. He is seldom talked about, but will be a big reason for Arizona's defensive success this season.
Redshirt freshman Donald Horton had a very good scrimmage and was continually putting pressure on the quarterback and offensive line. Horton along with incoming freshmen Lolomana Mikaele and Conan Amituanai give Arizona a good corps of young defensive tackles.
Junior College transfer Louis Holmes was a sight to be seen in his first scrimmage in an Arizona uniform. Fans were raving about his play and after his first set he recorded a pass breakup which was very close to an interception.
Watching Holmes it is apparent that his best attribute is his intelligence for the position. He read Willie Tuitama and made a break on the ball, which led to the pass breakup, showing his athleticism in the play. Holmes is also causing a lot of work for the offensive line as he is double teamed often.
