Did Vasquez make the call?

After taking three official visits, Marcus Vasquez told Rivals.com earlier this week that he was torn between San Diego State and Western Kentucky.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound dual-threat quarterback from Chula Vista (Calif.) Otay Ranch said he hoped to reach a decision before the end of the week.

Did he?

"It took me a while to reach a decision, but I did reach one," Vasquez said. "I am going to Western Kentucky. I talked to Coach Wells and I talked to the head coach (David Elson), they were excited. They said the whole coaching staff is excited that I am coming there."

Vasquez moved to San Diego from Kentucky in 2005.

"My mom, dad, sister, grandma and nephew all still live out in Kentucky," He explained. "But that wasn't why I chose Western Kentucky.

"I just felt more comfortable at Western Kentucky and I have a great chance for playing time. I like their offense, as well. They run the same type of spread offense that we ran at my high school."

Vasquez helped lead Otay Ranch to six wins as a senior. He was named the Mesa League Offensive Player of the Year in 2006 after he accounted for 2,205 yards of offense and 31 touchdowns.

"Marcus is tremendously quick," Otay Ranch defensive coordinator Brad Burton told Rivals.com in a previous interview, prior to Vasquez' senior season. "He is along the lines of a Michael Vick or a Steve Young. He puts pressure on a defense because he can drop back and if there isn't anything there, he can take off and it's hard to track him down. He is also a great leader."

Vasquez is currently playing basketball for the Mustangs.
