Siravo returns to Temple
Mike Siravo, who spent the past six seasons as the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Boston College, is returning to Temple to join coach Matt Rhule's staff as the Owls' linebackers coach, according to multiple reports.
OwlScoop.com has confirmed that Siravo will be arriving at Temple Tuesday.
Siravo was Temple's linebackers coach in 2006 before going to Boston College, where he played three seasons as a linebacker from 1995-97.
And in what essentially amounts to a trade of assistant coaches, former Temple inside linebackers coach Sean McGowan will leave the Owls' staff to join his former boss, Steve Addazio, at Boston College. McGowan, who spent the previous two seasons at Temple, had been working at the Owls' Edberg-Olson Hall complex as a member of Rhule's staff since Addazio left to take the Boston College job back in December. McGowan played for Addazio at Cheshire High School
In the 36-year-old Siravo, Temple is getting a veteran assistant coach that has some experience recruiting to North Broad Street, as he also served as former head coach Al Golden's recruiting coordinator during his time with the Owls' program in 2006. Siravo was instrumental in assembling Golden's first recruiting class that included future NFL players in Steve Maneri and Andre Neblett, and Siravo stayed through December of the following season to help assemble a 2007 class that included two more future NFL players in Muhammad Wilkerson and Derek Dennis.
Siravo will be coaching a group of linebackers that includes rising sophomore Tyler Matakevich, the 2012 Big East Rookie of the Year and a freshman all-American.
