Hand to miss Military Bowl

When Temple looks to stop North Carolina's standout freshman quarterback Sam Howell in today's Military Bowl, it will have to do so without one of its top defensive backs.

Cornerback Harrison Hand did not travel to Annapolis for the game, has not participated in bowl practices and will not play due to a finger injury, OwlScoop.com has learned. Hand, a former Cherry Hill High School West standout who transferred to Temple from Baylor prior to this season, was the Owls' fourth-leading tackler in 2019 with 59 stops and four tackles for a loss. He collected a team-best three interceptions and five pass break-ups. Barring an unforeseen change, Hand will enter the NFL Draft early.

With Hand out of the lineup, head coach Rod Carey and defensive coordinator Jeff Knowles will rely upon a rotation of Christian Braswell, Freddie Johnson and Ty Mason at cornerback.
