Temple adds New Jersey athlete Zyil Powell

While the current Temple roster is just days away from the first fall camp of the Stan Drayton era, the future roster received a boost on Tuesday when Paramus Catholic athlete Zyil Powell announced his commitment to the Owls.

The 6-foot-0, 180-pound Powell, who projects as a safety at the next level, chose Temple over offers from schools like Illinois, Marshall, Coastal Carolina and Liberty.

At Paramus Catholic, Powell played quarterback, wideout and defensive back and ended his junior season with 53 tackles, two picks and two fumble recoveries.

Powell took an official visit to Temple back on June 15. With his commitment, Powell joined Nathan Stewart, Kevin Terry and Kyle Williams from that official visit group to commit to the Owls.

Overall, Temple's commitment list now sits at 14 verbal commitments.
